FTC Regional Championship Sat. 2/7/15 at Central High School

FTC Team members for 5321 and 9570 should see Mr. Koehler for a permission slip and tokens.  Please ask your parents or other adult if they can chaperone this event.  Navy engineer Pinkesh Bharatia will be there from 7:45 to 11am, but we need another adult for our team from 11AM on.  See this important message from FTC organizers Tom Zawislak and Dave Hackett...
Hello Philadelphia League Teams!
I hope you are all staying warm but mostly having fun preparing for our final event of this season, the Philadelphia FTC League Championship to be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Central High School. We are pleased this year to once again be hosted by Central High and their FTC and FRC Teams. Please remember that we were also hosted this year by Temple University and will also be sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania who are providing the chairs and tables for this event. The School District of Philadelphia is assuring the facility is availably to us so thank you to PhilaSD. Central is also hosting the FLL championship in SE PA this Saturday, January 31 so the shool will be the hot bed for robotics over the next two weeks.
Event information can be found at the following link. Please assure your team is listed and registered.
We will have more details in an email next week as we firm up plans and logistics but we wanted to write to remind our teams that the Championship will include live Judging of your team as well as review of Engineering Notebooks. As the season progresses for many teasm it never hurts to review again the criteria for both to assure that you are fully prepared and meeting the requirements.
As such, I am attaching a copy of the FTC Game Manual 1. Please review and understand Section 5, pages 18 – 20 regarding your Engineering Notebook including guidelines, format and judging tips. We do advise that the judges WILL strictly follow these guidelines as minimum criteria when reviewing your notebook.
With regards to Judging, your interview session will be scheduled when you arrive for the event. Judging will start at 8:15and will be the priority for teams over robot inspections as well. Be prepared to enter judging at least 5 minutes before your assigned times. Please assign at least one person to track yiou appointment and match scheduled throughout the day. We will have a queue staff as well, but it best that teams prepare themselves.
Judging and award criteria are in Section 8 of the manual, pages 30-36. Please review especially the judging process if you have not experienced this before. The Judge interviews will take 10 minutes, so please prepare your presentations around this time limit.
Additionally, please have your robots ready to compete, we will not have time in our schedule to delay for additional building or design changes. We do not want you to miss the opportunity to compete in each and every one of the matches as we will be playing a minimum of 5 per team and likely many more.
Again, more details regarding the details of the day will follow early next week. Good luck with your preparations. We cannot wait to see you all again!
Tom Zawislak and Dave Hackett
